Hi all,
I was listening to a tutorial about burning cds under windows xp's built in utility, and start buttton, one of th etechjs on th evipconduit site says you can burn data cds under xp built in facility, but you have to have a software program like burn at once or exact audio copy for burning music. Was just wondering whats th edifference? after all, aren't all files considered data by the computer? so, what files can be considered data files? for instance, i might want to down load some clasic audio books from librivox.rg and burn them on to cds, will xp's burn to cd tool do it? i've seen that option on th econtext menu with some files where it says burn to disc, but just thought one of th eburning cd programs like windows media player 10 or sonic would come up and try to burn it to disc. as of yet, i don't even have any cdrw discs, so i've never burned a cd on this or any other computer, since my former 8 year old computer didn't even have a cd burner.I only have one song on this computer, and thats one someone sent me. with this recording company threatening to sue anyone they catch downloading music, i'd be afraid to download any music now, but i'd be nice to down load some audio stories or readings people do on some of their podcasts. I've had thiscomputer for 6 months and haven't experienced burning a cd.
wonderwoman
Well, if the files are considered to be audio files by windows media player, then the build in cd wizard will come up and ask if you want to burn them to the cd as the actual files, or like an audio cd. Personally, I use Nero. If you don't plan to use a cd burner for more than burning audio, then the built in tool should suffice. But if you want to use it, the audio must be of a type that wmp will play.
Wonderwoman, I really think you might be a bit scared of this whole process whichis why you're asking fo rhelp, it's a good thing. First off, I haven't seen that xp burning tool, but look at it like this. A data cd is to only be read by a computer, like if I wanted to back p my files, I'd burn them to a data disk. If I wanted to burn music like you want to do, I think you need to use the burn to music cd option. This lets you burn it into a cd that can be played on your home stereo or car if you had one. As for the cdr disks, buy them from like staples or best buy, cdrw are a different kind. They can be rewritten over, an dyou really don't need them. They tend to burn about one forth the speed of a reggular cd. Plus they give you from fifty to a hundred of them so I think you're ok. Private emssage I'll help more.
